I read the man who Japed by Philip K Dick, continuing my theory that the Philip K Dick books with the worst titles are the most interesting ones. The man who Japed was no different. It turned out that Japed means making fun of or exposing to ridicule, and of course it was the government exposed to ridicule as the man shaped a statue, taking the head off, and then having the head held out by the hands of the statue like a zombie. Later, stealing the head outright. The book tells a story of yet another horrifying Philip K Dick future reality where all morality is controlled by a group called morec. And if you don't fit in line with morec, they punish you and send you off to some kind of strange retirement colony. Rather than being sent to the retirement colony. Alan Purcell fights back because he has what no one else hasโ€” a sense of humor. This amazing superpower of sense of humor, allows him to jape the statue, and then to run the ad agency, even though they were trying to take it away from him. He runs the ad agency marvelously convincing people that the former president of the bizarre pod government ate people. He had many recipes for the eating of people, and turns out he was some kind of a monster. Humor destroys the evil society, in this nice, quick, Philip K Dick book. One of many. And one of many that I've read. I hope you'll enjoy the man who japed, and I hope you enjoyed this review.
