I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook version of The Kid's stays in the Picture as read by the late Robert Evans. A fantastic book, a story of a life well-lived, a great film with lots of great photos and this really digital effect they made the photos pop out of everything. It's good to check in with the source material as well. A few extended stories, more details about The Godfather and some of his other projects, well worth reading. The audio version really shows Evans through his emotions, losing his girl, losing his house, losing his Monet, almost losing Paramount, but getting it back at the end as The Kid's stays in the Picture. Especially great are his descriptions of Jack Nicholson who he calls the Irishman. The Irishman was always supportive of Robert Evans and Evans always appreciated Jack's support. I re-listened to this book or pay attention for the first time after it being recommended by Bob Odenkirk in his excellent comedy-comedy-comedy drama where Odenkirk says from time to time he likes to go back and listen to the audiobook of Evans so that he can hear the great man and his great words. I especially enjoyed the profane greeting at the end of his book, something like, if somebody gets in your way, F them! Something like that. It was joyous and wonderful to spend time with Robert Evans. I hope you will as well. The film is also a great documentary and as always The Kid Stays in the Picture.
