I enjoy the idea that they wrote a hitch, a sixth book to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the execution wasn't that bad either. It's certainly not Douglas Adams. No one's going to believe that. No one's going to think that it's that. But the characters are there, and they act similar to the way they acted. And there are sides far too frequent that break the narrative and force you to read about the Hitchhiker's Guide or some encyclopedia narrative. A bit of them are too repetitive and focus on the same thing over and over again. It also has a bit of the Han Solo movie disease, where it attempts to explain the most inconsequential detail from the Hitchhiker's Guide, for example, where do you get the ingredients for the bug bladder, Beast of trawl or the pan galactic gargle blaster? Details, details, details, breaking it down. But they were right that the fifth book for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy does leave the characters in pretty poor predicament and a sad place to leave our friends. I don't think that Douglas Adams intended that. Of course, he passed away far too young and far too quickly to have any kind of literary agent or management of his characters and what would happen to them in the future. So I am glad that they moved them along from where they were to somewhere else. That seems a little nicer in the end. It was a bit of a drifty mess at times, but that's what the person was trying to do. They were trying to mimic Douglas Adams, who himself was a drifty mess at times. I would recommend it for all Hitchhiker's Guide fans. It's like the last two books of Dune. It's never going to be as good as the other books of Dune, but you still have to read it to get the end of the story. And while I don't know that Douglas left behind an outline, it does feel like they did their best in this book to continue the characters. And while they give us far too many details about wonko, the same the man who went planet to planet, insulting everyone. The rest of it's all right. And there's not any other Hitchhiker's Guide books you may as well read this one. Thanks for reading. Enjoy.
