The Pale King by David Foster Wallace - ★★★★

Difficult and unfinished. Several very long sections, from a single character's point of view telling you a seemingly endless story. But that's what the book is about. It's about boredom, the certain type of person it takes to be an IRS agent and a view inside their head. There's a few unfinshed threads to a larger plot, much like Jest that seems like it would be the plot, but that's really not what it's about. It's about these people who can focus. Who see boredom and tedium as a challenge and respond as heroes.
