About this archive

Scope

The FKN Archive collects Deek Jackson’s FKN Newz (2006–2008 era), the FKN Newz Various Clips grab-bag (2009–2021), the Only One Planet album, the _theastronomers.org companion project, and the original Revver RSS feed that documents the metadata for ~100 of the episodes.

Numbers

• ~490 audio episodes, ~497 transcripts, 506 video files (multiple cuts per episode in places)
• 191 episodes with clean date + media triple in v1.0 catalogue
• 252 "various clips" 2009–2021 (Facebook era)
• 10-track album, 6-video companion (the astronomers)
• 49 GB total archive, 4.6 GB cleaned canonical videos

Method

Filenames were parsed for dates in ~12 different formats (MM_DD_YYYY, YYYY.MM.DD.TITLE, written dates, etc.). The RSS feed (titles, descriptions, durations, Revver IDs) was joined to the disk scan by date. Transcripts are auto-generated by otter.ai — accuracy varies by audio quality and Deek’s diction.

Versioning

This is v1.0, released 2026-05-31. Future material from Deek will land as v1.1, v1.2, etc. — the directory layout and JSON schema are stable.

License

FKN Newz and the Deek Jackson album are CC BY-NC-ND 2.5 per the original Revver feed. Non-commercial reuse with attribution, no derivatives.

Hosting

Hosted at 1n2.org/fkn/ with Deek’s permission as the designated FKN Archive site. Thomas met Deek in Scotland.

Caveats

• The previously-active fknnewz.com domain is currently offline (DNS SERVFAIL as of release).
• An archive.org mirror is planned but not yet uploaded — awaiting Deek’s explicit OK.
• ~half of the raw video files do not map cleanly to a date (alternate cuts, trailers, fragments); they are referenced in the manifest but not promoted to the episode index.
