1n2 Weekly — a memorial, and a reader that keeps getting better

Two things happened this week and one of them matters more than anything else in this stretch of the calendar. On the twenty-sixth a memorial went up for Conrad Braun — the Ugly Old Goat — who died in May at seventy-six, after years as one of the more stubborn voices in the Bitcoin community.
Built from the tape
What makes it a 1n2 page rather than an obituary is where it comes from. It is assembled out of the World Crypto Network archive that has been accumulating here for years: the man's own words, on camera, with every shot carrying its source on screen. There are two cuts of film in it. The page is careful to state what it is missing and how it was put together. Having an archive and then using it for something like this is, we would argue, the entire justification for having kept the archive.
PageVoice, quietly
In the same week PageVoice took five hundred-odd files of work — the EPUB reader with synchronised read-aloud, the one that exists because the commercial options are neither free nor translating. It is among the least flashy things on the roster and among the most used.
The tube archive and the reports directory both saw small edits. VMS slowed to a trickle after three weeks at full tilt. A week with a centre of gravity, for once.
