The Venetian Resort Las Vegas opened 1999 — Sheldon Adelson's Italian-Renaissance-themed megaresort on the former Sands site. In February 2022, Apollo Global Management acquired the operations of the Venetian, Palazzo, and Venetian Expo from Las Vegas Sands for $2.25B; simultaneously, VICI Properties acquired the underlying real estate for ~$4B. The transaction was Las Vegas Sands' complete exit from the Strip.
